In the summer of 2000, Toby quit his Jazz degree, put his bongos in a beautiful black bag and drove to Blackpool to start his working life.
Since then his career has seen him playing drums and/or percussion for a Rolling Stone, a Bee Gee, and a Spice Girl along with a plethora of American soul artists and TV talent show competitors.
His Protection Racket gear has safely sheltered his drums through the hands of the worlds most care-free crew and terrifying hotel kitchens.
He’s spent much of his time working in London's West End and on touring musical theatre shows. As an educator has taught and written on degree courses and for industry publications.
A veteran of pantomime he continues to hope that his playing career isn’t behind him.
His most fulfilling musical moments so far have been with, Keith Tippet, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Paul Carrack and Colin Blunstone.
While the drums come and go, the cases remain, including his bongo bag.
