Jim Hines spent much of the ’80s and ’90s as a studio stalwart in Chicago, playing jingles and assorted gigs with bass player/friend Bob Lizik. Fast forward to 1999, when Hines got a call from Lizik, who was already set to embark on Brian Wilson’s world tour. Hines chuckles, “He said, ‘Hey, you want to go to Japan?’ ‘Uh, yeah.’” Hines has manned the Brian Wilson throne ever since.
